Will giving entire estate to one beneficiary

Free Will template

This Will template gifts your entire estate to a single beneficiary such as your wife or child.

This very simple Will leaves your entire estate to one person, such as your husband, wife, civil partner or adult child.

  1. Clause 1 identifies you with your name, address and date of birth.
  2. Clause 2 confirms the document to be your Will and ensures that it deals with your worldwide assets.
  3. Clause 3 revokes (i.e. cancels) any previous Wills or Codicils that you have made.
  4. At Clause 4 you can set out your funeral wishes. Note that this are not legally binding, although it would be unusual for your Executor to ignore them.
  5. Clause 5 appoints Executors/Trustees to deal with your assets. They will collect in anything you own, pay your debts, pay for your funeral and distribute what is left to your specified beneficiary.
  6. Clause 6 gifts your estate (all of your assets, after debts and expenses) to your choice of beneficiary.
  7. Clause 7 is optional but this is a good idea. It specifies who should get everything if your first choice of beneficiary cannot inherit (for example, because they predecease you). You could specify a charity here.
  8. Clause 8 incorporates the standard STEP provisions. These allow your Trustees to manage your assets until they are distributed.

After Clause 8 you will see the attestation clause, where you sign the Will in the presence of two independent witnesses.
